I know Summoner-mun and I worked out that kind of backstory for the two of them knowing each other and having interactions, while with the GHB that wasn't on the table. Really the level of Handmaid's potential involvement or knowledge of Disciple is up to what you're comfortable having out there, so if you'd want Disciple to recognize her I am DEFINITELY ok with that.
